Trademark Authority

Applicant is required to submit their trademark application to the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Department (HKIPD) for examination in order to obtain trademark rights and protection in Hong Kong. 

 

Required Documents

For an application for a trademark registration in Hong Kong should contain:

1.  Trademark specimen/ logo

2.  Applicant's name and address

3.  Description of goods and services

• Hong Kong Applicants

1. Corporation (Limited Company): Business Registration Certificate, Trademark Image

2. Sole Proprietorship  Or Partnership (Unlimited Company): Business Registration Certificate, Trademark Image

3. Individual: HKID & Address Proof, Trademark Image

• Non-Hong Kong Applicants 

1. Corporation: (Certificate of Incorporation) or (Certificate of Incumbency), Trademark Image

2. Individual: HKID & Address Proof, Trademark Image

Duration of Trademark

The duration of Trademark is 10 years from the registration date. 

 

Renewal of Trademark 

Trademark owner will be able to renew their trademark registration 6 months before the expiration date. Trademark registrations can be renewed every 10 years.
